GWM has completed the EV 3.0 measures by producing 100% of the ORA Good Cat electric cars in Thailand, with more than 4,500 units manufactured for export to Australia and Brazil.
Wayne Zhou, Managing Director of GWM (Thailand), announced a significant achievement as the GWM ORA Good Cat, a long-favored electric vehicle among Thai consumers, recorded over 7,000 units sold in 2025, marking a 139% growth from the previous year. This milestone also signifies the full and successful completion of the EV 3.0 policy requirements.
Under the government’s EV 3.0 support framework, GWM was one of the first two brands to join in 2022 and became the first manufacturer to start producing electric vehicles for sale in Thailand at the GWM Smart Factory in Rayong Province. This was done under conditions requiring local production to offset imports, marking an important step for Thailand's EV industry.
During the EV 3.0 period, GWM imported a total of 9,645 electric vehicles, which required compensatory production of 14,468 units. To date, GWM has completed 100% of this production obligation, divided as follows:
1. Production for export exceeded 3,000 units, with exports starting in April 2025 to key markets such as Australia and Brazil, totaling over 4,500 units. According to the compensation requirement of 1.5 times the export volume, this is a major step in establishing Thailand as a key export manufacturing base for GWM to countries worldwide.
2. Production for domestic sales. Currently, GWM has delivered over 10,000 domestically produced GWM ORA Good Cat vehicles. These export and sales figures exceed the policy requirements, making the GWM ORA Good Cat one of the top-selling electric vehicles in Thailand. This reflects the success and trust Thai consumers have in a high-quality electric car featuring modern design, outstanding technology, and excellent value.
Wayne Zhou added that GWM sincerely thanks Thai customers for their warm and consistent support of the GWM ORA Good Cat over the past four years. He also expressed gratitude to the government for driving the EV 3.0 policy, which has enabled a significant transition in Thailand's electric vehicle industry. The success in producing and selling the GWM ORA Good Cat not only confirms the product’s quality but also reflects the genuine trust Thai customers have in GWM’s brand and after-sales service.
