TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Introducing the GR Yaris MORIZO RR, a special edition designed for master-level drivers like Akio Toyoda, owner of Toyota, with only 100 units to be sold.
On 9 Jan 2026, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, or TGRR,createdthe special MORIZO RR edition of the GR Yaris and unveiled a prototype under development at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026.
The GR Yaris MORIZO RR is a special edition developed in collaboration with Akio Toyoda, also known as Morizo, the president and master-level driver of Toyota Motor Corporation. Insights from the TOYOTA GAZOO ROOKIE Racing team's participation in the 2025 Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race were applied.
TOYOTA GAZOO Racing’s main mission is to create cars inspired by motorsports that continuously improve, while ROOKIE Racing develops GR vehicles further. TGRR aims to accelerate the creation of better cars.
During the Nürburgring 24 Hours race, Morizo, as a regular driver, piloted the GR Yaris number 109 equipped with TGRR's GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission. He completed more laps than planned despite challenging track conditions. After the successful race, Morizo expressed his admiration for the GR Yaris and credited the 8-speed automatic transmission for enabling him to complete 15 laps.
The GR Yaris MORIZO RR stands out with performance honed on the Nürburgring track, creating a unity between driver and car that fosters high-level interaction, reliability, safety, and the joy that makes car enthusiasts want to keep driving.
The GR Yaris MORIZO RR will be available in Japan in a limited run of 100 units starting spring 2026. Applications for a lottery can already be submitted via the official TGR smartphone app. This model will also be sold in limited quantities of 100 units in select European markets.
- A specially developed MORIZO four-wheel drive control mode replaces the base model’s GRAVEL mode, setting initial torque and front-rear power distribution at 50:50.
Interior and exterior designs are tailored for professional and expert drivers.
- The GR Yaris MORIZO RR features a special high-performance aerodynamic design unique to this model, highlighted by a carbon fiber rear spoiler developed from Nürburgring 24 Hours racing. Other exterior enhancements include a carbon fiber front spoiler, side skirts, and hood.
- The exterior is painted in Gravel Khaki, a special color exclusive to the GR Yaris MORIZO RR and a favorite of Morizo. Despite its boldness, it blends well with everyday surroundings. The front grille is coated in Piano Black for a sharp, sleek look that integrates smoothly with the base, while the wheels are finished in Matte Bronze.
- The brake calipers and interior stitching use Morizo’s signature yellow color.
- Another special feature is a suede-wrapped steering wheel, slightly smaller in diameter than usual, with modified paddle shifters and steering wheel-mounted switches optimized for motorsport use. These switches are arranged separately based on lessons learned from similar controls in the GR Yaris Rally2 rally car.
- Inside the cabin, there is a special serial number plaque featuring the MORIZO RR logo as part of the decoration.
