TOYOTA unveiled the GR GT and GR GT3 highlights for the first time at Tokyo Auto Salon 2026, featuring a full aluminum body structure and a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine.
On 9 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Akio Toyoda, Chairman of the Board of Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan, also known as Master Driver MORIZO, officially opened the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) booth and presented TGR vehicles at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026.
The GR GT and GR GT3, TGR's new flagship models, were showcased up close for visitors, including a cutaway model revealing the full aluminum body structure and the 4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine in both models. This marks Toyota's first use of this engine in commercially produced vehicles.
Additionally, several other vehicles were displayed, such as the GR Yaris MORIZO RR under development, the GR Yaris Sébastien Ogier 9x World Champion Edition, and other concept cars.
"Reports indicate that the GR GT and GR GT3 prototypes will soon be produced in limited numbers for enthusiasts, with Thailand potentially among the markets to receive these models," the company stated.
A key feature inside the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing booth was the display of GR PERFORMANCE SOFTWARE, a new GR Parts product that expands the functions of Circuit Mode available in some current models. This software enhances driving enjoyment and unleashes the car’s full potential across various conditions. The booth also exhibited numerous GR Parts, including those scheduled for future release and prototypes currently in development.
The event included a wide range of merchandise, such as collectibles related to the GR GT, and first-time releases like 1/43 scale models of the Toyota 2000GT, Lexus LFA, and GR GT, sunglasses co-developed with Oakley, and apparel collaborations with American brand New Era.
Furthermore, Toyota launched and made available for download the updated GR app on 9 Jan 2026 GMT+7, supporting customers’ driving lifestyles through the GR Passport platform.
