Hyundai Unveils New Atlas Humanoid Robot, Plans Commercial Use Soon

Hyundai Motor Group revealed Atlas, a humanoid robot developed by Boston Dynamics, its subsidiary, at CES 2026, focusing on the concept of robots working in collaboration with humans.

Over the past one to two years, many automotive companies have been researching and developing humanoid robots that closely resemble humans.

Recently, Hyundai Motor Group has also researched and developed humanoid robots. At CES 2026, Hyundai showcased AI robot technology within its Group Value Network and presented strategies to promote the commercial deployment of AI robots, leveraging the synergy between humans and robots and integrating advanced technology into Hyundai's business operations.

One highlight at CES 2026 was the debut of New Atlas, the latest humanoid robot by Boston Dynamics, a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Group.

This new generation of Atlas signals a clear step toward the commercial development of robots, reflecting the group's commitment to creating robots that enhance safety and assist workers in various situations.



Training and expanding AI robot capabilities through the Partnering Human Progress network.

Hyundai Motor Group also revealed strategic plans for learning, training, and enhancing AI robot capabilities through its Group Value Network and the development of Software-Defined Factories (SDF).

Hyundai's Software-Defined Factory approach uses advanced production strategies and smart factories driven by data and software to increase flexibility and agility throughout the manufacturing process.

Moving toward the factory of the future, Hyundai plans to manage the entire supply chain—from AI robot development to learning, training, and operations—by optimizing various dimensions including robot components, logistics systems, and software.


At CES 2026, Hyundai organized an exhibition showcasing real-world applications of AI robot technology, where visitors experienced interactive simulations depicting work and daily life environments incorporating AI robots, along with demonstrations of Hyundai’s robot research.

This allowed visitors to gain clearer insights into the technology through demonstrations of various AI robots and hourly appearances of Atlas, Spot, and MobED, accompanied by detailed information on each robot's capabilities.
