Hilux Travo Gears Up to Enter Japanese Market with Cool TCD Customization, Perfect for Adventure Enthusiasts

Toyota Hilux Travo: Toyota is preparing to relaunch the Hilux Travo in Japan by mid-2026, featuring a striking TCD custom body kit that will certainly please adventure seekers.

Mr. Satoki Oya, chief engineer at Toyota Motor Corporation Japan, said this is the first time we have showcased the Hilux Travo and Land Cruiser FJ specially customized by TCD ASIA at TOKYO AUTO SALON 2026. This serves as a guideline for developing future accessories based on feedback from users in Japan and abroad, which we will use to further develop our products.

Toyota plans to bring the Hilux back to the Japanese market after having discontinued sales of the model for about one year.

"We anticipate a positive reception for the Hilux’s return in Japan, as many Japanese customers have been eagerly awaiting it. We expect annual sales to reach around 10,000 units," he said.

The target customer group in Japan focuses on outdoor and leisure activities, which differs from usage patterns in Thailand. Therefore, Toyota is designing campaigns tailored to this market segment.

Mr. Hiromu Ishizawa, president of TCD ASIA Co., Ltd., said that TCD ASIA was formerly TOYOTA TECHNOCRAFT CO., LTD., part of the Toyota Group. We have continuously developed automotive accessories alongside Toyota under the TRD and Modellista brands.

Additionally, we hold official licenses to develop and sell GR Parts, including various body kits, performance enhancement equipment, comfort features, as well as racing car and engine development.

The Hilux Travo Customize Concept displayed at TOKYO AUTO SALON 2026 features a new grille and over fenders that enhance the vehicle’s aggressive look. Side steps and skid plates are off-road styled. Genuine Toyota accessories such as a snorkel and bed liner are included.

Also featured are deck rails for secure cargo fastening and a tow package capable of hauling equipment and luggage. The interior has been sportily upgraded with customized seats, steering wheel, and gear shift aligned with the concept. The suspension is tuned for off-road control, and 17-inch sport off-road wheels fitted with Dunlop Grandtrek R/T01 285/70R17 tires and security nuts complete the setup.

Regarding the Land Cruiser FJ, TCD ASIA has planned and sourced some parts in cooperation with Toyota Motor Asia (TMA). Earlier, they consulted on concept and product planning since TMA focuses on the Asian market and aims to distribute in this region.

TCD ASIA has further customized the Land Cruiser FJ with an off-road style to enhance its ruggedness, including gold-colored skid plates and matching gold wheel accents on the displayed vehicle. Additional accessories include roof racks, side step guards, spare tire covers, and newly tuned suspension.
