Mr. Chai Iamsiri, Chief Executive Officer of Thai Airways Public Company Limited (THAI), said the Airbus A321neo is part of Thai Airways' fleet acquisition and upgrade plan to support short- and medium-haul routes. This aircraft features continuous aviation technology advancements with strengths in fuel efficiency, reduced carbon dioxide emissions, and lower noise levels compared to previous models, aligning with the company's sustainable business goals.
"Integrating the Airbus A321neo into our fleet marks an important step, underscoring Thai Airways' commitment not only to enhancing passenger travel experiences with comfortable, modern cabins and products but also to driving Thailand's and the region's aviation industry toward sustainable and environmentally friendly flight."
The first Airbus A321neo has been named "Bowornrangsri," inspired by the Bowornrangsri community, a historic neighborhood in Bangkok associated with Wat Bowonniwet Vihara temple.
The word "Boworn" originates from Boworn Sathan Sutthawat, or the Front Palace, which was a former center of power, while "Rangsri" means light and prosperity. Thus, "Bowornrangsri" reflects an area under the influence and radiance of an important institution, symbolizing auspiciousness and historical significance.
The Airbus A321neo is a new narrow-body, single-aisle aircraft in the A320 family, equipped with CFM LEAP-1A engines. These engines are notable for reducing fuel consumption and noise, cutting carbon dioxide emissions per seat by up to 20%, and being certified to use sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) up to 50%.
The cabin includes 16 business class seats, branded as Royal Silk Class, consisting of 4 single "Throne Seats" and 12 double seats.
Designed under the "Your Personal Room Concept," the cabin offers increased personal space and flexible use—from dining and working areas to seats that recline fully flat at 180 degrees for complete rest, complemented by a 17.3-inch touchscreen entertainment system.
The economy class has 159 seats arranged in a 3-3 configuration, ergonomically designed with a 10-degree recline, six-way adjustable headrests, and a 13.3-inch touchscreen entertainment system.
The in-flight entertainment system has been upgraded with 4K resolution screens supporting personal device connectivity, featuring a new user interface (UI) that is easy to use and responsive.
Additionally, the aircraft is equipped with high-speed internet via the SES Open Orbits multi-orbit network, supporting speeds of up to 200–300 megabits per second.
