Ford Ranger Super Duty: Ford reveals the origins of the Ranger Super Duty, continuing the F-Series legacy.
A reporter stated that Ford Thailand revealed that Super Duty is not just a model name or a marketing strategy to excite new vehicle launches, but a work philosophy representing high-performance vehicles. Behind this name lies a foundation of strength deeply embedded in the structure, proven through long-standing endurance and hard work.
Born from a powerful DNA engine.
The legend began in the 1950s when Ford engineers realized that heavy-duty truck customers needed outstanding power and performance. They developed the V8 engine stamped with Super Duty to guarantee capability for the toughest tasks, installing it in Ford's Extra Heavy Duty trucks. Although time has passed, this philosophy remains, as stated in the 1993 brochure emphasizing that what lies beneath your vehicle’s frame is the key. F-Super Duty defines strength, durability, performance, and reliability.
The turning point in 1999: separating the line to meet exact needs.
In 1997, Ford first used the Super Duty name on the F-350 pickup, available with 2-wheel drive cab chassis and 4-wheel drive options, as well as a 2-wheel drive bare chassis. This sub-model was the starting point for a major breakthrough.
With the clear launch of the F-Series Super Duty line, Ford targeted two customer groups: general users and those needing trucks for heavy-duty tasks. This product line separation helped Ford win global users’ loyalty by providing vehicles perfectly suited to each group’s needs without compromising performance in any aspect.
Proof of endurance: from F-Series to Ranger.
To uphold the F-Series Super Duty name, Ford raised durability testing standards by creating the Silver Creek test track and employing robots for continuous 24-hour driving tests. These harsh tests were also applied to the Ford Ranger Super Duty at Ford Australia’s test facility to ensure this Ranger model inherits the legendary toughness perfectly.
Ford Ranger Super Duty: a new standard for pickups.
Similar to the significant F-Series shift in 1999, Ford now applies the same concept to the Ranger by offering a general-use model and the Ranger Super Duty for those requiring heavy towing and hauling. This is not merely a modified vehicle.
It is a high-performance pickup built from the factory, featuring a completely redesigned chassis structure to handle more demanding tasks, delivered as a trusted partner directly to customers to meet every demand for more than a standard pickup.
