Touring the OMODA & JAECOO Chery factory in Rayong, Chinese executives affirmed their readiness to establish global production standards and advanced manufacturing.
On 20 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Chen Chunqing, Executive Vice President of CHERY International, announced that Chery Group, in partnership with OMODA & JAECOO Thailand, held a ceremony to officially open their new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturing plant in Rayong province.
"Today, I reaffirm our group's commitment to building world-class production standards, accessing advanced technology, and meaningfully contributing to global carbon neutrality goals," he stated.
Chery Group continues to strengthen its position as a global automotive innovation leader, operating eight research and development centers, 19 production bases, collaborating with over 300 international supplier partners, and maintaining a sales and service network exceeding 3,000 locations worldwide.
In February, Chery became the first Chinese automaker to surpass six million cumulative vehicle exports, maintaining monthly exports above 100,000 units for 11 consecutive months. In March, exports reached 148,777 units, marking a 72% year-on-year growth.
Mr. Chen added that international expansion continues steadily. In Europe, Chery Group operates in more than 18 countries, and in global right-hand drive markets, it covers 14 countries, with a steadily increasing share of new energy vehicles. Regarding Thailand,
the group currently operates through three brands: OMODA & JAECOO, followed by CHERY, and most recently LEPAS, reflecting confidence in Thailand's long-term market potential.
At the 47th Bangkok International Motor Show in 2026, CHERY, OMODA & JAECOO secured first place in booking numbers among Chinese automotive brands, demonstrating strong market momentum and increasing consumer trust in their products and brand direction within Thailand.
The NEV factory in Thailand is equipped with advanced production technology, including aluminum body welding processes, and has commenced production. Over a five-year plan (2026–2030), Chery Group aims for an annual production capacity of 80,000 units, reinforcing Thailand's role as a strategic regional production base.
Mr. Cedric Sui, Chairman of Chery Group (Thailand), said their message in Thailand is clear: a commitment to long-term business operations. They are not here just to manufacture or sell vehicles but prioritize building customer confidence in all aspects—from spare parts availability, service quality, customer care, to developing Thailand’s workforce capabilities.
The operational plan in Thailand will be driven through a portfolio of the three brands. CHERY will focus on family segments with BEV and PHEV products, while OMODA and JAECOO will establish distinct brand identities in crossover innovation and outdoor lifestyle segments.
LEPAS will introduce the concept of Elegant Mobility Life to complement a diverse travel ecosystem and better meet the needs of Thai consumers.
Beyond manufacturing, Chery Group emphasizes enhancing after-sales services under the Here to Care concept, aiming to expand its service network to 210 showrooms this year, achieve 100% certified technicians, and target high efficiency in parts and service performance.
Under the Here to Stay initiative, the group also invests in human resource development, running skills enhancement programs covering vocational students, university students, industry personnel, and future young professionals in the xEV industry.
Additionally, Chery Group collaborates with the Ministry of Labour, the Department of Skill Development, and AHRDA to elevate workforce capabilities in modern automotive technology. A memorandum of understanding on NEV skills is scheduled for signing in May 2026, alongside agreements with Rayong Technical College and Chonburi Technical College to cultivate quality personnel for Thailand’s new energy vehicle industry.
As a symbol of commitment to Thai society, the first batch of vehicles produced in Thailand under the CHERY and OMODA & JAECOO brands will be donated to the Thai Red Cross Society, reflecting the belief that industrial development should progress alongside social value creation.
The official opening of the NEV factory in Thailand marks a new chapter for Chery Group, OMODA & JAECOO in domestic production, innovation, and long-term cooperation with Thailand. The Future Starts Here.
