End of a 22-Year Era: Honda to Withdraw and Cease Selling Cars in South Korea by End of 2026

Honda Motor has decided to withdraw from the South Korean car market by the end of 2026 after more than 22 years of operation. The company cites changes in market conditions and plans to focus on the motorcycle market, while confirming it will continue normal after-sales services.

On 23 April 2026, Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced that by the end of 2026, it will cease its automobile sales business through Honda Korea Co., Ltd., its subsidiary responsible for the distribution of Honda motorcycles and cars, headquartered in Seoul, Republic of Korea (South Korea).

This decision follows changes in the global and South Korean automobile market environment. After thorough consideration to focus organizational resources on enhancing competitive capabilities in the medium and long term, Honda decided to end its car sales business in South Korea.

However, despite ending car sales, Honda will continue to provide after-sales services, including vehicle maintenance, parts supply, and warranty support for Honda car customers in the South Korean market as usual.

Honda Korea will maintain its motorcycle business as the core of its operations, aiming to strengthen the business by offering attractive products and enhancing customer service and experiences in South Korea.
