GWM Kicks Off Full-scale Production of ORA 5 in Rayong, Thailand

GWM officially launched the ORA 5 production line in Rayong, Thailand, and will begin gradually delivering the ORA 5 to Thai customers starting in May 2026.

Mr. Meng Xiangjun, Chief Production Officer of GWM, said that officially opening the GWM ORA 5 production line at the GWM Smart Factory in Rayong marks a significant milestone for the company. It demonstrates the capability of Thailand’s production base to manufacture new energy vehicles on a single platform that supports multiple drive systems, elevating Thailand as a key production and export hub in the region.

GWM is committed to providing smart and environmentally friendly travel solutions worldwide. The GWM ORA 5 rolling off the production line today is developed on the GWM ONE Platform, a single platform that supports various drive systems.

This platform enhances manufacturing efficiency by using highly standardized parts, ensuring consistent quality and value. The successful launch of the first ORA 5 vehicle today underscores the company’s commitment to long-term business operations and its ongoing efforts to establish deep roots in Thailand as a strategically important market.

Wayne Zhou, Managing Director of GWM (Thailand), said the GWM Smart Factory in Rayong is a strategic production base reflecting GWM’s commitment to long-term investment. The company is determined to advance Thailand as a central hub for new energy vehicle production and usage across the ASEAN region.

The start of GWM ORA 5 production reflects confidence in Thailand’s highly capable industry in terms of personnel, technology, and the new energy automotive ecosystem. It also confirms the readiness of the smart factory to produce various types of vehicles meeting international standards, delivering the highest quality products sustainably to both domestic and international consumers.

GWM is dedicated to enhancing production capabilities and competitiveness while continuously promoting the development of the country's new energy vehicle industry. The company plans to introduce more new products to the Thai market to provide excellent travel experiences and create value for customers, partners, and Thai society.

The ORA 5 production line will supplement and replace the previously discontinued GWM ORA Good Cat. To meet customer demand and expedite vehicle delivery, GWM has increased the production capacity of its Thai factory following the official production line launch on 5 May.

Additionally, GWM will import some ORA 5 units from China to reduce customer wait times. The company will begin delivering the GWM ORA 5 to customers starting from May onward.

The initial 5,000 customers who reserved the GWM ORA 5 at the 2026 Motor Show will receive their vehicles between May and June this year, while customers who reserve afterward will receive their cars from June onward, depending on the chosen model and color.
