Following the MG4 ELECTRIC electric car fire on 6 Jul 2026, SAIC Motor-CP Co., Ltd. and MG Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd. issued a statement expressing sincere concern for customers and those affected by the incident.
On 7 Jul 2026, the company, together with relevant government officials and the vehicle owner as observer, inspected the evidence and found the fire’s origin under the front left hood, where the 12-volt battery is installed.
They found the battery involved was not the standard MG4 ELECTRIC battery from the manufacturer. Meanwhile, the high-voltage battery was intact and undamaged from the incident.
For maximum safety, the company recommends customers use parts that meet the vehicle’s standards and specifications, and to have regular inspections and maintenance at MG authorized service centers nationwide. The company thanks customers for their trust in MG and reiterates that customer safety and product quality are their highest priorities.
