Government Savings Bank to Inject Additional 5 Billion Baht into Electric Vehicle Loans After Initial Allocation Fully Utilized

Government Savings Bank is preparing to inject an additional 5 billion baht in electric vehicle loans after the initial loan funds for operators, including financial institutions and partner lenders, were fully allocated.

On 20 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Songpol Chewapanyaro, Director of Government Savings Bank, stated that the loan program supporting energy transition, specifically loans for purchasing electric vehicles (EVs), has received a very positive response.

The bank’s initial loan fund of 5 billion baht was fully allocated. Recently, Government Savings Bank has increased the loan fund by another 5 billion baht to meet the ongoing demand for EV purchases, maintaining the original lending conditions.

The bank will wait for operators—including financial institutions and partner lenders—to gradually disburse the funds. If this additional fund is fully used, the bank will consider further actions in the next phase.

The loan for electric vehicle purchases is specifically for EVs as defined by the project. Charging equipment conditions may vary depending on each lender’s terms.

Regarding overall performance and new loan disbursements in the first eight months of the year, the bank has maintained continuous profits, with loan growth in all segments, including:

1. Soft Loan program with a fund of 100 billion baht, currently having approved and disbursed approximately 50 billion baht.

2. Electric vehicle loans (EV Loan) in the first phase with 5 billion baht fund received strong demand, exhausting the initial allocation and prompting the bank to approve an additional 5 billion baht.

3. Supply Chain and clean energy loans have significantly expanded compared to last year, focusing on energy traders, wholesalers, and groups involved in energy transition. Currently, over a thousand applications for clean energy transition loans have been submitted.
