LEPAS Launches LEX Platform Supporting BEV and PHEV Drivetrains

LEPAS, a new energy vehicle brand under Chery Auto, has revealed technical details of its intelligent LEX platform designed to support both battery electric vehicles (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), as well as multiple body structures to meet regional usage needs.

The electrical architecture and driver assistance system of the LEX platform utilize an electrical and electronic architecture (EEA) controlled by a centralized domain via gigabit-level Ethernet.

The intelligent driving system supports Level 2 driver assistance and plans to activate automated highway navigation (Highway NOA) within this year.

Parking system: Some markets will feature Super Intelligent Valet Parking (SIVP), supporting autonomous navigation inside parking structures and maneuvering into tight spaces.

Updates: The platform supports full-domain over-the-air (OTA) software upgrades throughout the vehicle’s lifetime.

Drivetrain and battery systems.

The BEV model is equipped with a 12-in-1 integrated drive motor with 90.8% system efficiency, battery cell energy density of 186 Wh/kg, supports fast charging from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes, and operates in temperatures ranging from -25°C to 55°C.

The PHEV model works with the LEPAS Super Hybrid system to extend driving range.

LEX platform safety standards have been developed to comply with the 2026 Euro NCAP safety requirements.

The ADAS system has been tested across more than 1,200 simulated scenarios covering lane changes, traffic crossing, and low-visibility driving.

Vehicle safety includes a driver monitoring system (DMS) with 25 detection points and a four-layer backup unlocking system in case of accidents.

Battery standards have IP68 and IPX9K protection certifications and incorporate a thermal runaway prevention system to operate safely under high temperature and humidity conditions.

LEPAS, a brand under Chery Auto, has officially launched in Thailand, starting with the 100% electric C-SUV LEPAS L6 EV, with Thailand being the first market globally to introduce the right-hand drive version.

LEPAS L6 EV pricing.

Available in two variants (imported CBU from China).

LEPAS L6 EV Comfort FWD priced at 769,900 baht.

LEPAS L6 EV Premium FWD priced at 799,900 baht (discounted from the regular price of 829,900 baht).

Platform and body architecture: LEX Platform; drivetrain: single electric motor driving front wheels (FWD) with maximum power of 218 hp, peak torque of 275 Nm, acceleration 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds; battery: LFP with 65.05 kWh capacity; driving range: up to 540 km on a full charge (NEDC standard).

Charging supports DC Fast Charge up to 120 kW (charging from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) power supply up to 3.3 kW for external devices.

Interior features include Snapdragon 8155 processor, Level 2 ADAS driver assistance, Sony 8-speaker surround sound system, cargo space ranging from 435 to 1,255 liters, plus an additional 38-liter front trunk (frunk).

Assessing LEPAS’s market prospects in Thailand, given the influx of automotive businesses and competition from Chinese brands, it is acknowledged as a challenging and demanding task.

The main advantage is its accessible pricing compared to options. Launching the LEPAS L6 EV at 769,000–799,000 baht directly competes with C-SUV and B-SUV segments, yet offers a 65.05 kWh battery, Snapdragon 8155 chip, and advanced safety hardware including LiDAR and NVIDIA Orin-Y in the top model, delivering good hardware value. The LEX platform’s flexibility supporting both BEV and PHEV allows future product line expansion; if the BEV market slows, hybrid/PHEV engines can easily be introduced as an alternative.

In summary, LEPAS is likely to succeed due to backing from the strong-selling Chery Group. Being part of this major Chinese export brand provides solid financial and engineering support. After-sales service quality will be key—if well managed and positively reviewed by customers, vehicle sales should grow naturally without expensive influencer promotions.
