The Thai Automotive Industry Association, in collaboration with the Department of Energy Business, affirms the readiness of over 1,500 car and motorcycle models to support E20 and B20 fuels. They are promoting biofuels as a key option to reduce reliance on foreign energy, build consumer confidence, and sustainably support Thailand's agriculture, industry, and transport sectors.
Ms. Yupin Boonsirichan from the Thai Automotive Industry Association (TAIA) said the automotive industry is ready to participate in driving the country's energy policy, especially amid global energy market volatility. Promoting biofuels like E20 gasohol and domestically produced B20 diesel supports Thai farmers and adds value to agricultural products.
This also helps reduce energy costs for the transport sector and the public, lowers dependence on imported fuels, and is a vital approach to strengthening the country's energy security. Moreover, TAIA member vehicle and motorcycle manufacturers have continuously developed automotive technologies aiming for carbon neutrality, which is crucial for driving sustainable progress in the automotive sector.
Regarding E20 gasohol, currently 16 car manufacturers support it, including BMW & MINI, BYD, Changan, Ford, Geely, Great Wall Motor, Honda, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Suzuki, Toyota & Lexus, and Volvo, covering a total of 273 models.
For motorcycles, five manufacturers support E20: Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, and Royal Enfield, comprising 138 models in total.
Concerning B20 diesel, 15 car manufacturers currently support it: Chevrolet, Ford, Great Wall Motor, Hino, Hyundai, Isuzu, MAN, Mazda, MG, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Scania, Toyota, UD Trucks, and Volvo Trucks, totaling 1,135 models.
Additionally, fuel stations nationwide are prepared to serve these fuels, with 6,079 stations offering E20 gasohol and 1,282 stations providing B20 diesel, covering the entire country.
The Thai Automotive Industry Association (TAIA) and the Department of Energy Business (DOEB) under the Ministry of Energy aim to reassure consumers and confirm that both cars and motorcycles certified by manufacturers can use E20 gasohol without affecting engine performance or causing damage.
Vehicles will also maintain warranty coverage as per each company's terms. Consumers can verify compatible models through official dealers or service centers, user manuals, fuel cap symbols or stickers, or vehicle lists published by the Department of Energy Business to ensure proper and efficient use of E20 gasohol.
