GAC Thailand Celebrates 3rd Anniversary, Strengthens Its Production Base and Global Presence in Thailand

GAC Thailand celebrates its 3rd anniversary of trust, reaffirming its global strength and moving forward to build a comprehensive new energy automotive ecosystem in Thailand.

GAC Group, also known as Guangzhou Automobile Group, stated that GAC's success in Thailand extends from its global brand prominence. The group has been ranked on the Fortune Global 500 list for 14 consecutive years and has made history by

surpassing 30 million cumulative vehicle production within just 29 years, making it the fastest Chinese automotive brand to achieve this milestone. GAC operates over 3,200 distribution and service centers worldwide, expanding across more than 110 countries and regions.

The company invests heavily in research and development (R&D), spending over 7.7 billion U.S. dollars, with 4 R&D centers and a network of more than 6,800 R&D personnel from 15 countries globally, alongside more than 20 manufacturing plants worldwide.

GAC's solid foundation of success and global quality stems from experience gained through joint ventures with leading automakers such as Honda (GAC Honda) and Toyota (GAC Toyota).

These collaborations have enhanced GAC's knowledge, management, production expertise, and international quality standards, becoming the key driver that elevated GAC’s vehicle development standards to a true global level and consistently building consumer trust worldwide.

ONE GAC Strategy: Unified Approach for Consumers

GAC’s growth direction is driven by the ONE GAC 2.0 vision, officially launched in Thailand at the Bangkok International Motor Show. The strategy emphasizes the philosophy: "In Local, For Local, Integrated Locally, Serving Locally, Contributing Locally," aiming to deeply integrate operations within each region. GAC strives to become a globally influential automotive brand and a reliable, quality partner for consumers worldwide.

Key milestones of GAC’s 3-year success in Thailand

Throughout its business operations in Thailand, GAC Thailand has built a strong foundation and experienced rapid growth in all aspects, reflected by clear indicators of trust from Thai consumers as follows:

  • Cumulative vehicle registrations: GAC has gained the trust of Thai consumers with a total of 34,898 vehicle registrations since entering the market in 2023 through August 2026.
  • Comprehensive service network: Rapid expansion to 73 dealerships and service centers covering 40 provinces nationwide, delivering reliable and accessible service.
  • Strong production capacity: The automotive plant in Thailand operates at full capacity, with a maximum production capability of 50,000 vehicles per year to meet domestic and export market demands.
  • Infrastructure expansion for energy: Continued expansion of charging stations through direct investment and partnerships, totaling over 300 stations nationwide, equipped with more than 1,000 DC Fast Charge points across Thailand.

2023: Official market entry in Thailand

GAC officially began operations in Thailand in September 2023 by launching the GAC AION Y Plus, its first electric vehicle model, which received overwhelming response from Thai customers. In November of the same year, the company announced strategic partnerships with EVme Plus and Gold Integrate to launch the GAC AION ES electric sedan targeting taxi and public fleet markets, marking a key step in building a clean energy transportation ecosystem in Thailand.

2024: Establishing production base and launching luxury brand HYPTEC

In its second year in Thailand, GAC laid a solid foundation by officially opening its first new energy vehicle production plant outside China in July 2024 at the Amata City Industrial Estate, Rayong province (EEC area), with an initial production capacity of 20,000 vehicles per year.

The plant has a maximum capacity of 50,000 vehicles annually to serve as a right-hand drive production base for domestic sales and exports, alongside the launch of the GAC Thailand Training Center to enhance expertise in the new energy automotive industry in Thailand.

Additionally, in August 2024, GAC entered the premium market with the launch of the GAC HYPTEC HT, a luxury electric SUV featuring a driving range up to 620 kilometers, 800V electric architecture, and a peak charging power of 280 kW. This commitment to infrastructure was further demonstrated by a year-end MOU signing between GAC Thailand, GAC Energy, and the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA)

to develop and expand electric vehicle charging networks across Thailand. In November, GAC expanded its portfolio by launching the GAC AION V 602 Luxury, a 100% electric SUV with a distinctive boxy design, spacious interior, and world-class safety standards, earning 5-star ratings from Euro NCAP and ANCAP.

Expanding product lineup to target mass market and advancing local production

GAC’s development in Thailand reached a significant milestone in early to mid-2025, when its vehicle assembly plant at Amata City Industrial Estate, Rayong, began full-scale local assembly (CKD) operations.

This local production aligns with government incentives supporting electric vehicle (EV) adoption and underscores GAC’s commitment to enhancing Thailand’s automotive supply chain, while boosting the company’s ability to deliver vehicles swiftly and efficiently to Thai customers.

2025 also marked an active expansion of GAC’s product portfolio to effectively serve the broad mass market, with successive new model launches creating market impact. In June, GAC introduced the GAC AION UT, a stylish smart compact electric hatchback designed to meet the needs of modern consumers seeking electric vehicles that combine design, technology, and maneuverability, featuring comprehensive intelligent technologies.

In August, GAC further expanded its alternative energy vehicle portfolio by launching the GAC M8 PHEV, a luxury plug-in hybrid MPV that fills the niche for alternative energy MPVs in Thailand. The vehicle combines premium luxury with ADIMOTION PHEV drivetrain technology, delivering smooth, efficient performance suited for executives and modern families seeking travel perfection.

2026: Building on 3 years of success, advancing into the 4th year with enhanced customer experience and Thailand Action 2.0 strategy

After 3 years of operation in Thailand, GAC remains committed to continuously enhancing consumer experiences. In 2026, GAC prioritizes building confidence and long-term value for Thai customers through the announcement of the Thailand Action 2.0 strategy at the Motor Show 2026 in March.

The company is advancing comprehensive improvements in products, services, and customer experience, launching the new, more accessible GAC AION V 500 Premium variant. Importantly, GAC has addressed customer pain points and increased assurance by introducing the GAC CARE service brand and the GAC Easy Trade-in program (a campaign exchanging old cars for new ones).

Most recently, in August 2026, GAC continued expanding its product portfolio by launching the GAC GN8 PHEV, a premium plug-in hybrid MPV designed under the concept SMART LUXURY FOR EXECUTIVES, truly catering to executives and modern families. It offers an electric-only driving range of up to 120 kilometers (NEDC) and a total driving range of 1,032 kilometers (WLTC).

The interior reflects first-class luxury and comfort, featuring ergonomically designed Dual Zero-Gravity second-row seats with relaxation functions, combined with immersive surround sound from a premium YAMAHA 16-speaker audio system, providing utmost tranquility and enjoyment throughout every journey.

With the successes over the past three years, GAC is poised to enter its fourth year with a continuous commitment to product, technology, and service development, further building a comprehensive new energy automotive ecosystem in Thailand and growing sustainably alongside Thai consumers and society under the vision of becoming a trusted automotive partner in the long term.
