GWM Officially Launches GWM ORA 5 with Both Fully Electric and Hybrid Engines

GWM is preparing to launch the ORA 5 in both fully electric and hybrid (HEV) versions, following the concept of one model with multiple powertrains, with the launch set for 12 Mar 2026 GMT+7.

On 2 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Wayne Zhou, Managing Director of GWM (Thailand), said that launching the GWM ORA 5 in Thailand marks a significant milestone for GWM globally. Thailand is the second country worldwide to launch the BEV model after China, and the very first to introduce the HEV version.

GWM (Thailand) studied the structure of the Thai automotive market and recognized Thai consumers' strong preference for hybrid vehicles. This insight was crucial in deciding to bring the GWM ORA 5 HEV model to Thailand. GWM is confident this vehicle will offer great value and meet Thai consumers’ needs, elevating their experience in all aspects.

The strategy behind the Multi-powertrain flexibility of the GWM ORA 5 is based on GWM's latest global platform development, which follows First Principles—returning to the fundamental essence of car manufacturing. This approach reduces complexity and designs a structure that efficiently supports diverse needs. The concept of one model with multiple powertrains enables consumers to choose technology that suits their lifestyle while maintaining consistent quality and user experience standards.

“Positioning the GWM ORA 5 in the SUV-B segment with two powertrain options—BEV and HEV—not only reflects GWM’s direction in developing a flexible intelligent platform but also underscores Thailand’s role as a key strategic market in the region. We are honored to host the world’s first launch of the GWM ORA 5 HEV in Bangkok. The ORA 5 is intended as a flagship model capable of making a significant impact on both the BEV and HEV markets in Thailand. This launch is not just about introducing a new vehicle but represents an important step for GWM (Thailand) in expanding energy options, providing Thai consumers with confident, tailored choices to live perfectly suited to their diverse lifestyles.”
