SAIC Motor CP and MG Sales Thailand, the manufacturer and distributor of MG vehicles in Thailand, have launched the MG IM5, a premium electric sedan with a driving range exceeding 860 kilometers. This EV ranks among the longest-range vehicles in its class. The special price is set at 1,449,900 baht, including a lifetime warranty on the high-voltage battery, drive motor, and motor control system (EV LIFETIME WARRANTY). At the 47th Bangkok International Motor Show, MG also showcased a variety of models with numerous special offers to provide exceptional value and a premium experience for customers interested in owning an MG vehicle.
The launch of the MG IM5 marks a significant step for the brand in expanding its premium EV lineup in Thailand. This electric vehicle offers a distinct driving experience that embodies the "I AM WHO I AM" philosophy by integrating three core elements: ELEGANCE—featuring a sleek and distinctive design reflecting the driver's personality; ELECTRIC—delivering powerful performance that elevates driving enjoyment; and INTELLIGENT—a harmonious blend of advanced smart technology and entertainment that enhances comfort and confidence throughout the journey.
The MG IM5 is a sporty coupe sedan designed with sleek lines and equipped with double-layer Acoustic Glass windows to reduce outside noise. It rides on 20-inch alloy wheels. Inside, it features Intelligent Immersive Touch Screens, including a 26.3-inch digital display and a 10.5-inch central touchscreen. The seats are designed with POPO Sofa styling and include ventilation. The audio system offers 7.1.4 Spatial Audio with 20 surround speakers, complemented by a spacious rear cargo area.
The MG IM5 is powered by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor driving the rear wheels, producing a maximum of 407 horsepower and 500 Newton-meters of torque. It incorporates the IM Digital Chassis structure to enhance stability, precise handling, and ease of control. The 100 kWh battery, developed in collaboration with leading brand CATL, enables a driving range of 860 kilometers per full charge (NEDC standard). It supports fast charging with an 800-volt high-voltage system and a maximum DC charging rate of 396 kW, allowing a charge from 10% to 80% in less than 18 minutes. An improved battery cooling system boosts confidence for all driving conditions, especially long-distance trips. Charging times vary depending on remaining battery level and charger power.
A standout feature of the MG IM5 is the integration of technology with travel convenience. It offers Autonomous Level 2 driving assistance and an Intelligent Four-Wheel Steering System that enhances maneuverability with a turning radius of just 4.99 meters. At low speeds, the front and rear wheels steer in opposite directions for tighter turns and easier U-turns. At high speeds, all four wheels steer in the same direction to improve stability and road grip. The vehicle also includes One Touch iAD parking assistance for easy parking in tight spaces, One Touch Reverse with up to 100 meters of automatic reversing, and Crab Mode to facilitate movement in constrained areas. Rainy Night Mode improves visibility on the screen during heavy rain. Pet Mode keeps pets comfortable inside by maintaining air conditioning while the car is locked. The intelligent i-SMART system allows drivers to connect and control vehicle functions via smartphone with ease.
For safety, the MG IM5 features an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and has earned a 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, reinforcing confidence in its structural quality and internationally recognized safety systems.
