Consumer Protection Board Expedites Investigation into EV Fire in Bang Khae, Urges Car Makers for Immediate Explanation

The Consumer Protection Board is rapidly investigating an electric vehicle fire in the Bang Khae area, calling car manufacturers for urgent explanations and strengthening consumer safety controls.

An electric vehicle caught fire inside Chaiyaphruek Village, Bang Waek, Bang Phai Subdistrict, Bang Khae District, in the afternoon of 25 March 2026. The incident was widely shared on social media and attracted broad public attention.

According to the Rama 199 Radio Center, the alert was received around 15:12. Firefighters and rescue teams from the Bang Khae station responded promptly, finding the electric vehicle ablaze. They were able to control the fire by 15:57. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by relevant authorities.

Mr. Ronarong Phulphipat, Secretary-General of the Consumer Protection Board, stated that the board is taking the incident seriously and has urgently summoned the vehicle manufacturer to clarify the facts.

The manufacturer must also explain concrete measures to compensate consumers. This process aims to collect technical facts and data to present to the Committee on Product and Service Safety for consideration of appropriate consumer safety protection measures.


He emphasized that consumer safety is paramount. The board will closely monitor developments in this case, implement all necessary measures to build public confidence, and keep the public informed.
