WULING Launches Porta EV Electric Van with 400-Kilometer Range at Attractive Price

WULING THAILAND, the official manufacturer and distributor of WULING electric vehicles in Thailand, has created a major milestone in the commercial EV market by holding a press conference to launch the WULING Porta EV, an intelligent electric cargo van designed to revolutionize goods transportation in Thailand amid the fuel price crisis impacting business operating costs. They also revealed the successful bookings of the WULING Darion EV after one month since its launch.

Mr. Tyson Tang, Manager of the Thailand Office at SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd. (SGMW), emphasized the Chinese parent company's commitment to the Thai market, stating that Thailand is the top strategic priority in ASEAN. SGMW is fully supporting new WULING products in Thailand, with several more models planned for 2026 to meet diverse EV needs of consumers and businesses. Crucially, SGMW is backing WULING THAILAND in raising standards across showrooms and service centers nationwide, especially in after-sales service and parts availability, to build Thai consumers' confidence under the philosophy of "WANJIA" or WULING for everyone.

Pittaya Thanadumrongsak, CEO of WULING SALES THAILAND, shared that the WULING Darion EV, a 7-seat MPV with electric sliding doors, has exceeded expectations in the Thai MPV market with over 2,845 bookings during the early bird period of the first month. These bookings came through more than 30 WULING showrooms nationwide. Deliveries began on 1 April and will continue until all orders are fulfilled by May 2026.

WULING THAILAND also analyzed the impact of rising fuel prices on the current vehicle market and why operators must accelerate the transition to electric power. “The current fuel crisis is the strongest catalyst encouraging consumers and businesses to seriously consider electric vehicles. EV operating costs are significantly lower than fuel vehicles. We understand that in today's economy, costs, especially fuel or transport expenses, are the heaviest burden on operators.”

“The launch of the WULING Porta EV today is not just about selling vehicles but delivering a highly effective 'cost reduction solution' to Thai businesses at a time when it is most needed,” Mr. Pittaya said.

WULING Porta EV Electric Cargo Van

The highlight of the event was the launch of the WULING Porta EV by Mr. Mike Chen, Deputy General Manager of Wuling Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd. This electric cargo van targets transport and logistics businesses with four key advantages that outperform competitors in the same segment.

1. Cargo Space (Super Capacity)

The interior offers a spacious 6.5 cubic meters, the largest in its segment.

Dual sliding doors on both sides with lower door sills designed for easy stepping in and out and convenient cargo loading.

The rear door opens up to 270 degrees, enabling forklifts to load and unload pallets directly, speeding up cargo handling.

Battery (Wuling MAGIC Battery)

The latest battery featuring MAGIC technology, which is 60% stronger than conventional batteries while being slimmer.

Fast charging supports charging from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes.

An intelligent thermal management system maintains optimal battery temperature even in Thailand’s hot climate, extending battery lifespan.

Low Cost (Extreme Efficiency) Average driving cost is only 0.56 baht per kilometer, with 11 energy-saving technologies and 30% energy recovery from braking, reducing maintenance costs by up to 90% compared to combustion engine vehicles.

Performance for Heavy Loads (Reliable Strength)

The body is made of 83% high-strength steel, supporting a maximum payload of 1,249 kilograms. A 75 kW electric motor delivers a peak torque of 180 Nm, capable of climbing 30% gradients effortlessly even when fully loaded.

The launch price for the WULING Porta EV starts at 599,000 baht, making it the only commercial electric vehicle priced competitively with single-cab diesel pickups.

“The current fuel crisis is not temporary but a clear sign that the cost structure of oil-dependent transport businesses is entering a dangerous zone. Operators who fail to adapt face high risks due to uncontrollable fuel costs. The WULING Porta EV is the investment answer today, essentially buying a 'cost-control shield' that helps your business survive and stay competitive long-term,” Mr. Pittaya concluded.

Those interested can experience and test drive the highly cost-effective WULING Porta EV electric cargo van today at Wuling showrooms nationwide.
