Denza Z9GT In-Depth Specs: The Powerful 3-Motor Electric Car Arrives in Thailand, What’s the Price?

The Denza Z9 GT is essentially BYD’s upgraded luxury flagship. It combines the company’s technology with premium cabin materials and excessive horsepower for typical road use. This model targets German luxury automakers BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi (including Porsche) with a more luxurious version. Denza plans to enter the European market in 2026, launching the Z9 GT. In China, it comes in two powertrain options: plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and 100% electric (BEV).

BYD emphasized that the Chinese version’s suspension is tuned for a "soft, sliding" feel and a light steering wheel, reflecting Chinese preferences. However, the versions destined for Europe and Thailand will have a sharper setup to suit the tastes of Thai driving enthusiasts. A brief test drive at BYD's Zhengzhou facility revealed meticulous interior craftsmanship, with top-grade materials and a cleverly designed cabin featuring a beautiful Chinese Knot motif. The cabin feels solid and quiet, with no rattles or loose panels.

BYD is the type of company that commits fully to outdoing competitors once it decides on a product. Is it truly better? It’s rare for German brands to produce a 4-door sports coupe/shooting brake/wagon with a fully electric 952-horsepower powertrain. This alone gives Denza an edge. Beyond power, the Z9 GT’s striking looks turn heads at golf club parking lots, and its spacious rear can easily accommodate a family’s golf bags.

The car is loaded with buttons too numerous to press all at once before being asked to get out. The infotainment system features multiple large, high-resolution screens with smooth responsiveness. A standout is the "Crab Walk" feature enabled by four-wheel steering, allowing diagonal movement that feels unusual. It can also rotate front wheels by making the rear wheels spin in opposite directions, a clever trick very useful for parallel parking or maneuvering in tight condo garages. After trying it a few times, most owners likely won’t use it again.

Denza claims the Z9 GT has 952 horsepower and about 1,150 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and topping out at 240 km/h (149 mph). These figures are more than sufficient for everyday roads.

The 100.1 kWh Blade Battery allows the Z9 GT to travel up to 630 km on a full charge. Charging times are drastically reduced with 1,000 kW Megawatt Chargers, enabling a 400 km range boost in just 5 minutes of charging. However, such ultra-fast chargers are extremely rare.

The Denza Z9 GT delivers a premium Gran Turismo (GT) driving experience with aggressive performance that pushes the horizon every moment the accelerator is pressed. While fast executive luxury EVs exist, this model’s performance on the test track is genuinely impressive, with no exaggeration.

The Chinese-market suspension tuning results in noticeable body roll during low-speed cornering on the test track. Before arriving in Thailand, engineers will have refined this setup to achieve a much more precise and composed handling.

Here is a detailed specification look at the high-end Denza Z9 GT, BYD’s premium luxury Shooting Brake. The latest 2026 powertrain update will launch in Thailand this August. BYD offers both 100% electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions, based on its advanced e³ platform.

Body dimensions: The sporty shooting brake/liftback style is large, comparable to the Porsche Panamera. Length is 5,180 mm (EV) and 5,195 mm (PHEV, due to bumper design accommodating the engine), width 1,990 mm, height 1,490–1,500 mm, with a 3,125 mm wheelbase.

The electric drivetrain uses three electric motors (Tri-Motors AWD) as standard for the all-wheel-drive versions.

The 2026 top EV model has three motors producing a combined 850 kW, or 1,140 horsepower, with 1,210 Nm of torque. The updated 2026 lineup adds an entry-level single-motor rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant for broader accessibility.

The PHEV combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine (207 hp) with three electric motors, delivering a total system output of 640 kW (about 858–966 hp) and 1,035 Nm of torque.

Battery and charging: The BYD Blade Battery (Lithium Iron Phosphate, LFP) is used. The EV’s capacity rises to a generous 122.5 kWh (2026 top model), while the PHEV’s large battery is 38.5 kWh. The EV supports peak DC fast charging up to 270 kW, charging from 30% to 80% very quickly, with a claimed full fast-charge time of just 9 minutes.

Performance and range: The Z9 GT EV accelerates 0-100 km/h in a phenomenal 2.7 seconds. The PHEV achieves 3.6 seconds for the same sprint. Top speeds are electronically limited between 230 and 270 km/h. The EV range is up to 820 km per full charge (CLTC standard), while the PHEV runs 161 km on electric power alone and an astonishing total range of 1,036 km combining fuel and electric drive.

Wheels, tires, and weight: The car rides on 21-inch wheels with staggered tires to handle massive torque—255/40 R21 front and 275/40 R21 rear, typical of European sports cars. The curb weight ranges from 2,740 to 2,895 kg due to the battery and triple motors.

Price in China
Chinese pricing shakes up the European sports car market with aggressive price war tactics. The range is 269,800 to 369,800 yuan, approximately $39,100 to $54,530 USD, or about 1.35 to 1.85 million baht before import taxes. European prices jump to about 115,000 euros, roughly 4 to 5 million baht.

The independent rear-wheel steering allows this over-5-meter car to perform a crab walk and make tight U-turns with a very small turning radius.

The Denza Z9 GT, a 1,140-horsepower shooting brake beast, is expected to launch in Thailand through Rêver Automotive with two different pricing and marketing strategies due to tax structures and premium market approaches.

BYD’s shock pricing strategy aims to challenge luxury brands with an estimated price range of 1,990,000 to 2,300,000 baht. Rumors suggest BYD Thailand may surprise the market by pricing below 2 million baht or just above, using tax incentives for Chinese EVs to offer an affordable flagship model that competes with European compact and large Japanese sedans.

The true premium positioning with supercar-level performance targeting European luxury rivals is forecasted between 2,800,000 and 3,500,000 baht. The cost of the tri-motor system, e³ platform, huge 122.5–123 kWh Blade Battery, and independent rear-wheel steering justifies a price near the 330,000 to 410,000 yuan Chinese price band, which equates well compared to European cars costing 6 to 10 million baht for similar power.

If the PHEV version launches in Thailand, it may start around 2.1 to 2.4 million baht to attract more buyers. The top-end 1,000-horsepower EV could reach 2.8 to 2.9 million baht, targeting affluent customers seeking cutting-edge technology. The Thai launch is planned for August.
