Nissan’s e-POWER technology in the new Serena includes a 163-horsepower electric motor with 315 Nm torque, a 1.77 kWh lithium-ion battery, and a combustion engine that generates electricity. This new engine, code HR14DDe, is a 1.4-liter, 3-cylinder direct-injection unit compatible with E10 fuel, efficiently generating electricity. The Mirror Bore Coating technology reduces friction and vibration noise, resulting in a smoother, quieter engine operation with less external noise. The cabin is quieter than conventional combustion-engine vehicles.
The 1.4-liter, 3-cylinder gasoline engine produces 98 horsepower and 123 Nm torque. It functions solely as a generator to charge the battery and does not directly drive the wheels. The engine powers the electric motor EM57, which drives the front wheels. Performance is enhanced with a maximum output of 163 horsepower and 315 Nm torque. The 1.77 kWh lithium-ion battery powers the front wheels, claiming a fuel efficiency of 18.2 kilometers per liter.
The new Nissan Serena e-POWER features the e-Pedal Step system, which allows acceleration and deceleration using a single pedal. This makes city driving and heavy traffic more convenient. Using the e-Pedal Step also enhances regenerative braking, effectively charging the battery during driving.
