NMB-Minebea Thailand, a global industrial parts manufacturer under Japan's MinebeaMitsumi group, has expanded its investment by more than 2.6 billion baht and opened a new factory building in Lopburi Province. The facility focuses on producing high-precision aircraft parts for Airbus and Boeing, reaffirming Thailand's capability as a regional aviation parts manufacturing base.
Mr. Narut Therodsathirasak, Secretary General of the Board of Investment (BOI), stated that the new factory of NMB-Minebea Thailand Co., Ltd. in Lopburi Province is a BOI-promoted project dedicated to manufacturing high-precision aircraft components.
The production covers parts related to flight propulsion systems such as balls, race bushes, and spherical bearings, as well as aircraft structural and assembly components like bolts, sleeves, and fittings. The investment totals 2.6 billion baht. The new factory spans 16,500 square meters and accommodates high-precision machinery and automation systems in the manufacturing process.
NMB-Minebea Thailand Co., Ltd., part of Japan's MinebeaMitsumi group, first invested in Thailand in 1982 by producing miniature ball bearings. Thailand was chosen as one of the group's most important production bases outside Japan and has continuously expanded its investments here.
The expansion covers production of electronic parts, medical equipment components, machinery, electrical appliances, automotive parts, and aircraft components. To date, NMB-Minebea Thailand has received BOI investment promotion for 65 projects, with a total accumulated investment exceeding 115 billion baht.
Currently, the company employs over 31,000 Thai workers and operates 10 factories across five provinces: Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Pathum Thani, Lopburi, Chonburi, and Rayong. It is the world's largest production base for miniature ball bearings, exporting to key markets such as Japan, Singapore, China, the United States, and Europe.
NMB-Minebea Thailand began producing aircraft parts domestically in 2003 and has continuously developed its high-precision technology and quality control systems to meet the stringent standards of the aviation industry. It has been certified by leading global aircraft manufacturers including Airbus and Boeing, supplying parts to the global supply chain for over 20 years.
The latest investment of over 2.6 billion baht is not only an expansion of the factory but also an upgrade positioning Thailand as a Global Core Factory for MinebeaMitsumi's aviation business. Additionally, a research and development (R&D) center is being established in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province to support advanced technology development and enhance long-term competitiveness.
"Minebea, a global giant from Japan, continuously chooses to expand its investment in Thailand, especially in producing aircraft parts, which require advanced technology and strict safety standards. This reflects confidence in Thailand's potential and readiness as a key manufacturing base in the global supply chain. This expansion is a significant step in elevating Thailand's industry toward high value-added activities, creating quality employment opportunities, and transferring technology to Thai personnel," said the BOI Secretary General.
Mr. Katsuhiko Yoshida, President, COO & CFO of MinebeaMitsumi Group, stated that over 23 years of producing aircraft parts in Thailand has proven the country's true potential as a global aircraft parts manufacturing base. Amid ongoing labor shortages abroad, which continue to pressure the global aviation supply chain,
Thailand has maintained stable production, a distinct and rare advantage in today's manufacturing landscape. We are committed to keeping Thailand as the group's main production base and are ready to continue expanding investment here to create value and sustainably advance Thailand's economy.
