MG secured a position among the TOP 5 in the Thai automotive market and announced an upward revision of its annual sales target to 36,000 units. The company is advancing into the second half of the year with its “DUAL-MARKET” strategy, aggressively targeting both mass and premium markets under the GLOCAL approach, adhering to the principle “IN THAILAND FOR THAILAND” to understand Thai consumers and deliver the right value to meet their needs precisely.
The overall Thai automotive market in the first six months of 2026 saw a cumulative registration total of 374,424 vehicles, a 16% increase compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, MG achieved registrations of 16,920 units, reflecting a 67% growth rate. The three most popular models were the NEW MG S5 EV PLUS, a beloved e-SUV with 6,341 units; the MG4 ELECTRIC, a popular global EV hatchback with 6,018 units; and the MG IM6, an intelligent e-SUV featuring cutting-edge technology, with 1,013 units. This strong performance secured MG’s solid position in the top 5 of the Thai automotive market with a 4.5% market share. This success results directly from the GLOCAL strategy, focusing on delivering global automotive innovation precisely to Thai users through high-quality products (GLOBAL INNOVATION) while sustainably building brand trust by enhancing operational systems to provide excellent customer service experiences in all dimensions (THAI PASSION). Customers appreciate the value in design, driving performance, functional features suited to Thai roads, and technologies that make modern driving easier and safer.
In the first half of the year, MG’s strengths included a comprehensive range of EV products covering all key market segments and a dealership network capable of supporting growth. MG has raised its 2026 sales target from 30,000 to 36,000 units. Its strategy for the second half emphasizes product diversity. The top three EV segments with the highest growth in the first half were B-SUV, ECO CAR & B CAR, and C-SUV, with D CAR also showing growth potential. MG will continue to promote mass-market EVs aligned with market trends, including the NEW MG S5 EV PLUS, NEW MG URBAN city car, and the popular MG4 ELECTRIC, a key spearhead in the EV market. Concurrently, MG plans to expand the premium EV segment with the MG IM6 and MG IM5, preparing to launch LIMITED EDITION models soon. Additionally, two e-MPV models, MG MAXUS 7 and MG MAXUS 9, target families. MG also promotes EV LIFETIME WARRANTY across all models. Meanwhile, combustion engine vehicles will rely on the MG3 HYBRID+ to expand market share.
Regarding marketing and brand communication, all current MG models feature SMART TECHNOLOGY. The communication strategy for the second half of 2026 aims to clearly convey each vehicle’s features, helping customers understand and make purchase decisions aligned with their usage needs to maximize benefits. MG also creates opportunities for real users to participate in product development under the philosophy that the voice of actual customers is paramount. Collaborations with partners aim to elevate the brand image as an automotive brand that truly understands Thai consumers.
Service enhancement under the MG SMILE symbol is a core strategy to impress customers and has become part of MG’s corporate culture. This includes raising service staff standards across all departments and implementing the E-WORKSHOP system to improve maintenance accuracy, efficiency, and speed. Simultaneously, MG is upgrading the image and standards of 126 existing showrooms nationwide to usher in the NEW ERA OF MG DEALER, preparing to support growth in the premium market segment.
MG plans to become one of Thailand’s top three leading automotive brands within this decade. Its focus extends beyond sales figures to emphasize quality growth and building a sustainable automotive ecosystem. The second half of 2026 will be a critical proving ground for the brand’s future progress.
