Engine sounds, door closing noises, warning signals, or even everyday sounds heard during travel may seem ordinary to many, but for young musicians, these sounds can be crafted into rhythms and expanded into songs.
Recently, Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd. announced the winners of the TOYOTA Move Your World BEAT: Roots to Future competition, a creative music contest for young people under the theme Heritage x Innovation.
Mr. Natthorn Srinivet, Assistant Managing Director of Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd., presided over the opening ceremony and encouraged youth and music creators advancing to the finals. The key challenge was to draw inspiration from Thai cultural roots and heritage, blending them with contemporary music while incorporating Toyota Mobility Sound as part of the compositions.
Contestants used sounds ranging from engine noises, door closures, various vehicle signals to ambient sounds encountered during travel, then reinterpreted and arranged these into musical works reflecting Thai identity from a future perspective.
This activity is part of the Toyota Move Your World BEAT project, a regional initiative by Toyota aimed at supporting young people's potential through music and creativity, while connecting people and cultures across Asian countries.
The core concept this year is Heritage x Innovation, aiming to demonstrate that cultural roots need not remain in traditional forms but can be reinterpreted, merged with technology, and created into new works that resonate with contemporary audiences.
Additionally, the project contributes to advancing the Music Movement in Asia by providing a platform for young artists and creators to experiment with ideas, express their identities, and present musical sounds drawn from their cultures.
Mr. Natthorn said Move Your World BEAT is more than a music contest; it is a stage for young people to showcase their talents, express themselves, and build on inspiration through music. This year, Toyota Thailand adapted the regional concept to create a space for Thai youth and music creators to demonstrate their abilities and inspire others to think boldly, create their own works, and seize new opportunities in the future.
"For Toyota, we are ready to support young people in every way. We believe driving people forward means more than traveling from one place to another; it also means propelling their dreams, talents, and opportunities ahead. That is the essence of Move Your World that we have always upheld."
Toyota hopes that TOYOTA Move Your World BEAT: Roots to Future will be an important step in extending inspiration, opening doors to new opportunities, and serving as the starting point in the music industry for the participants.
At the same time, this platform reflects how Thai culture can progress alongside innovation by linking sounds from cars and travel with cultural roots, then developing them into contemporary musical works that are unique and can connect with younger audiences.
"I sincerely hope this stage will help extend inspiration, open new opportunities, and be the starting path in the music industry for everyone."
