The civil court has ordered "Je Ning" to pay 8 million baht to "Big Joke's wife" over an interview defaming her by accusing her of having an affair with her own husband.
On 9 Feb 2026 GMT+7, reports stated that the civil court issued a judgment in case number P.4343/2568, where Mrs. Sirinadda Hakparn, wife of Police General Surachate Hakparn, former deputy national police chief, was the plaintiff suing Ms. Thanatta or Nichanan Yodyuem, also known as Nomchoppitak, the defendant, for tortious acts seeking 10 million baht in damages.
In October 2024 GMT+7, the defendant gave an interview on a program accusing the plaintiff of having an affair with the defendant’s husband and of trespassing to take the defendant’s property.
The court considered that although the defendant did not directly name the plaintiff, the public would understand from the interview that the person mentioned was the plaintiff. The defendant's statements alleging that the plaintiff had an affair with her husband, trespassed, and stole property, made through a news program, caused damage to the plaintiff’s reputation and livelihood.
The court ruled that the defendant must pay 8 million baht plus 5% annual interest on the principal from the date of filing the case (15 Oct 2025 GMT+7) until full payment is made to the plaintiff, and also ordered the defendant to pay the plaintiff’s legal fees, with attorney fees set at 10,000 baht.
