The Pattaya City Police Superintendent has filed charges against a police lieutenant who was intoxicated and reckless with a firearm for homicide and is preparing to establish a disciplinary committee to consider severe penalties, including dismissal from the service.

Most recently, at 09:00 on 19 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Pol. Col. Anek Sarathongyu, Superintendent of Pattaya City Police, revealed that the suspect is indeed a police officer under his command, holding the position of deputy investigation chief. Initially, he has been charged with homicide and violations under the Firearms Act (discharging a weapon in public, carrying a firearm in public without justified reason). A disciplinary committee has been set up to investigate and impose severe penalties, potentially leading to dismissal from the force.
Regarding the cause of the incident, it is initially known that the suspect was intoxicated and got into an argument while drinking. The matter of the shooting resulting in death requires further detailed investigation.
The suspect has been identified as Lieutenant Jirasak Srikattanam, age 54, also known as Lieutenant Joe. He recently completed police cadet training class 53 last year and is currently assigned as deputy investigation chief at Pattaya City Police Station. After charges were filed, he was immediately detained in custody.
However, CCTV footage shows that the suspect, Lieutenant Joe, had a dispute with a friend wearing a white shirt at the drinking gathering. The victim, who had removed his shirt, tried to intervene by pleading and attempting to disarm the suspect. The suspect then fired at the victim, who collapsed and later died at the scene.
