"Big Joke" has appeared in court to file a lawsuit against Pol. Lt. Col. Kris his former close subordinate on charges of filing a false report, while Dr. Thawatchai has appeared as a witness after receiving a summons to confirm medical information.
On 20 April 2026 GMT+7, it was reported that at the Criminal Court on Ratchadaphisek Road, a hearing was scheduled to investigate the grounds of the case filed by Police General Surachate Hakparn, or "Big Joke," former Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, against Pol. Lt. Col. Kris Pariyaket, his former close subordinate. The complaint states that Pol. Lt. Col. Kris committed the offense of filing a false report to cause another to suffer criminal penalties, by filing a complaint accusing Police General Surachate of assault, which damaged his reputation and caused public misunderstanding.
Later, at 09:00, Big Joke arrived at the Ratchada Criminal Court with a normal demeanor, smiling and greeting the media. He said he was not ready to give an interview today because a press conference would be held tomorrow at 10:00 at the Hilton Bangkok Grand Asoke Hotel. He also mentioned that today he came for a different case from the one his lawyer was handling, before proceeding to the courtroom.
Afterward, Col. Dr. Thawatchai Kanjanarin, former surgeon at Phramongkutklao Hospital, also arrived at the Criminal Court as a witness in the case filed against Pol. Lt. Col. Kris. This followed a request by Big Joke's lawyer, who petitioned the court to issue a summons for him to testify after analyzing medical records that a news anchor from a prominent channel posted on social media.
He brought the medical records he analyzed and posted on his personal social media on 9 January 2026 GMT+7, confirming that his analysis was based on the medical records and represented a medical opinion. He emphasized that he was not aligned with any side. The medical records were issued by reputable doctors and a well-known private hospital with credibility.
He clarified that he did not confirm whether the incident from nine years ago, when Pol. Lt. Col. Kris was allegedly assaulted or slapped on the ear, actually occurred, as he was not present at the event. He only analyzed the medical records from a medical perspective. His previous analysis identified code H72.8, which refers to other types of eardrum perforations caused by disease.
However, if the injury was caused by a sudden assault, medical professionals would use code S09.2, indicating a clear diagnosis of eardrum perforation from acute injury. He also stated that he knows Big Joke from appearing on a TV program analyzing cyanide substances, and that he met Big Joke before the latter’s bribery or other cases. He confirmed they are not personally acquainted.
