Chinese Tourist Destroys Two Automated Passport Control Machines, Abuses and Attempts to Assault Officials

"Chinese tourist" caused an incident. He destroyed two automated passport control machines at Suvarnabhumi Airport, verbally abused officers with offensive language, and tried to assault staff, resulting in heavy damages and jail time.


On 14 May 2026, Police Lt. Col. Sitthipong Panthaisong, investigator at Suvarnabhumi Airport Police Station, received a report from Lt. Sgt. Sarunwit Kaewkhoto, an immigration police officer, about a Chinese man damaging government property and insulting officials in the outbound immigration zone 2 at Suvarnabhumi Airport. The incident occurred on 13 May around 14:35.

Lt. Sgt. Sarunwit Kaewkhoto said that while on duty at the automated passport control checkpoint, a Chinese man named MR. ZHENG LIWEI used force to destroy automated passport control machines numbered DAE01 and DAE06, then left the checkpoint without permission.

After the incident, the man continued to loudly verbally abuse the police in Chinese with rude language and several curses, and attempted to assault the officers on duty. However, his wife intervened and restrained him in time.

Police Lt. Col. Sitthipong Panthaisong, after receiving the complaint, questioned the suspect, who agreed to pay more than 480,000 baht in damages for the automated passport control machines. Regarding the charge of insulting an official, he is scheduled to be prosecuted at the Samut Prakan Provincial Court today (15 May 2026).
