Police have summoned a group of youths involved in a brawl that left an insurance company executive unconscious outside a restroom inside a community mall in downtown Chiang Mai. The opposing party has now presented video footage from another angle as evidence in the case, to fight the charges.
Following the case where a video clip of a fight inside a community mall in downtown Chiang Mai went viral online, resulting in a regional manager of a well-known insurance company being seriously injured around midnight on 3 June 2026.
Most recently, on 5 June 2026, it was reported that the group of youths involved, along with their lawyer, met with police at Chiang Mai City Police Station and acknowledged the charges. The youths did not allow media to take photos, but a representative named Nong Giftzy (pseudonym), age 26, the girlfriend of one of the youths, spoke to reporters about the incident.
Nong Giftzy She said she felt sorry about the incident because both sides were injured. They had planned to celebrate a birthday with friends but encountered this situation. The other side initiated the conflict by approaching their table to sell insurance. They responded that they were not interested because they already had several insurance policies. They then continued drinking without any argument.
When the store was closing, her female friend stayed inside to wait, while she went to get her car from the parking lot. Meanwhile, the insurance group followed her to the car, leading to a verbal argument. Then, someone grabbed her female friend’s arm and got into the car. She questioned why a stranger would enter the car. Her boyfriend saw this and a confrontation ensued, as shown in the clip. She added that there is more evidence they have not yet released, which will be used as proof in legal proceedings against the opposing side.
A clip from a dashcam shows a man in a red shirt walking toward a red license-plated multipurpose van parked on a road inside the community mall. The footage shows the man in red rushing into the vehicle. Then, a group of men and women in red shirts help pull the man out of the van.
Another clip shows the man in the red shirt grabbing the collar of a young man in a black shirt, saying “Don’t be cocky,” before the footage cuts to a chaotic fight in front of the restroom. The man in the red shirt, known as P’Eak, is seen unconscious outside the restroom while the opposing group attacks and mounts him.
Meanwhile, reporters spoke with Mr. Kantamet One of the witnesses and victims on the insurance company side, including employees and agents of the insurance firm who were celebrating in the same restaurant as the youths. He described the event, saying their group had held a party at a restaurant in the community mall.
The party was partly to celebrate P’Eak, who was seriously injured and was about to be promoted to a senior executive position overseeing northern operations for the well-known insurance company. The opposing group, mostly youths numbering about 20, were also celebrating at the same venue. He himself was injured on the face, head, arm, and body while trying to protect P’Eak from further harm.
The conflict likely began when one youth in the group expressed dissatisfaction with the insurance services provided by the agents they worked with. The insurance employees then tried to discuss and clarify insurance matters, exchanging LINE and contact numbers with the opposing group. The interaction was amicable without any quarrels or hard feelings, and the matter seemed resolved peacefully.
However, after the party ended, both groups left the restaurant. Two vans belonging to the opposing group were parked in the lot. P’Eak approached the youths at the van, and an argument broke out. The insurance group then escorted P’Eak away from the area to stand and talk near the restroom by the stairs, where the incident was captured on camera.
During the altercation, as the insurance group was talking, the opposing group suddenly attacked, punching him in the face first. Then a large man struck P’Eak multiple times until he collapsed unconscious on the ground. A scuffle ensued, including further attacks on P’Eak’s body and face while he lay unconscious, despite others trying to stop the violence. There was also a wine bottle used as a weapon. Four people from the insurance side were injured—three men and one woman—with P’Eak being the most seriously hurt.
They believe the cause of the conflict should not have escalated to such violent and brutal assault. Disagreements and insults do not justify severe physical attacks that led to P’Eak’s critical injuries. After the incident, they filed a police report at Chiang Mai City Police Station.
P’Eak has undergone surgery and remains in critical condition under medical care in the ICU. He suffered a skull fracture and brain trauma causing bleeding, which required surgical intervention. The ongoing prognosis remains uncertain.
The victims have discussed how to proceed, with their main concern being a fair and just legal process. They have heard that the opposing party’s father is a high-ranking government official who may be offering assistance. Since the incident on the night of 2 June 2026, no apology or compensation has been offered to the victims.
They hope the police will handle the case properly and fairly for both sides. The case of the brawl will follow legal procedures, with clear evidence from both parties.
They are confident that P’Eak, who was seriously injured, was not the instigator. He is well-liked by everyone, from school friends to colleagues, known for his polite and respectful nature. Many consider P’Eak the most gentlemanly person, beloved by those who know him well.
. . . Pol. Col. Pratchaya Titsala, superintendent of Chiang Mai City Police Station, stated that the incident occurred on 3 June 2026 around midnight involving two groups: youths and insurance company employees attending a party. CCTV footage inside the restaurant showed no initial conflict.
Investigations found conflicting accounts about the cause of the fight. The insurance side claimed dissatisfaction from customers complaining about the service of insurance agents. The insurance team tried to explain matters. The youth group stated they already had insurance and did not want to be sold policies during a party.
After receiving the complaint, police promptly investigated the facts, reviewing CCTV footage to identify who initiated the violence and who tried to stop it. This is a sensitive case requiring time to work through. Police confirmed they are handling the case impartially. Seven suspects involved in the brawl were separated for questioning: three from the insurance company and four youths. Both sides sustained injuries, with one severe injury on the insurance side.
After reviewing evidence today, police summoned the youth group to press charges for assault causing serious injury. Charges will be divided by individual actions under separate case files. Another charge involves mutual fighting in public, which will be applied to both parties.
