Foreign Media Report Renewed Clashes at Thai-Cambodian Border Thailand Responds with Air Strikes After Cambodian Artillery Hits Thai Troops, Causing Deaths and Injuries

International media report intense clashes at the Thai-Cambodian border, with Thailand recently conducting air strikes against Cambodia in response to Cambodian artillery fire that caused Thai military deaths and injuries, raising concerns about the reliability of the ceasefire agreement.

News agencies CNN, Aljazeera, France24, and Malaysia's The Star reported a new outbreak of fighting between Thailand and Cambodia, as the Thai military launched air strikes along the disputed border area. Meanwhile, Cambodian artillery shelled Thai troops, causing deaths and injuries. This has escalated tensions in Southeast Asia and threatens the peace plan promoted by U.S. President Donald Trump about two months ago.

Foreign media report that both sides accused each other of initiating the clashes on Monday morning, each claiming the other fired the first shots along the long-disputed border area.

This outbreak follows a week of accumulating tensions after Thailand suspended progress on the ceasefire agreement signed by both countries under U.S. coordination, leading to stalled negotiations and a resurgence of conflict.

Although the exact figures of damage or casualties from the attacks have not been disclosed, the latest situation has raised concerns that increased violence could undermine border stability efforts and potentially lead to full-scale conflict if urgent negotiations are not resumed.
