Indian Nightclub Owner Siblings Arrested in Thailand After Deadly Fire Claims 25 Lives

Two Indian brothers who own a nightclub where a severe fire broke out last weekend, resulting in 25 deaths, have been arrested in Thailand and are to be extradited back to India.

On Thursday, 11 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Nagel Singh, the Indian Ambassador to Thailand, told BBC News that the two brothers suspected in connection with the devastating nightclub fire in Goa, India, have been apprehended in Thailand.

Gaurav Luthra and Saurabh Luthra, owners of the "Birch By Romeo Lane" nightclub where the fire caused 25 fatalities last weekend, fled to Phuket, Thailand shortly after the incident.

Singh stated the brothers will be sent back to India after a Delhi court on Wednesday refused to grant them protection from arrest, while the Goa government is coordinating with India’s Ministry of External Affairs to cancel their passports.

The Luthra brothers claim they had no intention to flee and will cooperate with authorities for their return to India.

The fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday, 7 Dec, at a nightclub located in a busy nightlife area, resulting in 25 deaths—mostly club staff—with five victims being tourists. The cause is believed to be fireworks set off inside the building.

Investigators revealed that just hours after the fire, they raided the Luthra brothers’ home in Delhi but found they had already left the country. Police then sought help from Interpol to track them down.

On Wednesday, 10 Dec, Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa, announced that police had arrested six individuals connected to the incident and added, “There will be more arrests soon.”
