
A large fire broke out inside a market in the heart of Saint Petersburg, Russia, last Wednesday night, resulting in at least one fatality and forcing the evacuation of more than 100 people from the area.
A tense situation unfolded as a major fire erupted at the Pravoberezhny market in central Saint Petersburg. Footage showed large flames shooting through the market's roof into the night sky, while firefighters worked continuously to contain the blaze.
Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the fire spread over an area exceeding 1,500 square meters. Nearly 100 firefighters were dispatched to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby buildings. One person has died, and over 100 residents were urgently evacuated from the scene.
Officials stated that the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and the total damage to the market is still unknown. Rescue teams continue to search the area for anyone who might be trapped inside the debris.
The fire caused significant damage and is considered one of the major disasters in Saint Petersburg this year.
