The dramatic incident occurred mid-flight on Thursday local time while Cathay Pacific flight CX811 was en route from Boston to Hong Kong. Fortunately, no passengers or crew members were injured, and the aircraft was able to land safely.
Cathay Pacific stated that the crew immediately intervened, checked the door to confirm it was securely locked, then reported the incident to relevant authorities and Hong Kong police. The airline emphasized that the safety of customers and crew is their top priority. The individual involved was handed over to the police for further action.
Hong Kong police confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect faces charges under the aviation security law, relating to acts that endanger flight safety.
