Cambodian media reported that officials in Banteay Meanchey province arrested a "Thai spy" involved in sending information to the Thai military.
On 12 December 2025, Cambodia's Phnom Penh Post website reported that officials in Banteay Meanchey province announced the arrest of a Thai national in Sorak Kram village, Svay Chek district, while he was collecting suspicious information to pass on to the Thai military.
The report stated that the Thai man was detained near the border while engaging in activities constituting "security espionage," which Cambodian authorities are currently investigating further.
So far, Cambodian officials have not disclosed details about the suspect or the type of information believed to have been gathered, describing it only as a "sensitive security case" and noting that an official statement will follow as the investigation progresses.
