Hun Manet revealed discussions with Anwar Ibrahim and Donald Trump on finding ways to stop the shooting between Thailand and Cambodia. He proposed using US and Malaysian satellite imagery to examine the December 7 clash, pointing out this as a transparent method to prove who fired first.
On 12 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, posted on Facebook that he had telephone talks with Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, on 11 Dec, and with US President Donald Trump on the night of 12 Dec, to seek ways to bring about a ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia and to urge both sides to return to adhering to the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration.
The Cambodian Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the two leaders for their continuous efforts supporting long-term peace between Cambodia and Thailand. He reiterated that Cambodia has always been committed to resolving disputes peacefully, in line with the spirit of the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration.
Regarding the shooting incident on the afternoon of 7 Dec 2025 GMT+7, which led to renewed clashes between the two countries, Hun Manet said he had proposed that the US and Malaysia use the intelligence capabilities of their military or relevant agencies, such as satellite images taken at the time of the incident and within 24 hours afterward, to clearly determine which side opened fire first.
Hun Manet stated that he sees this method as the simplest and most transparent way to establish the facts. He emphasized that Cambodia is ready to fully cooperate if such an investigation is necessary.
