Australian officials confirmed that the death toll from the Bondi Beach shooting has reached 15 victims, excluding one deceased gunman. Another suspect is injured. Both perpetrators are father and son and used six firearms during the incident.
On Monday morning, 15 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Chris Minns, Premier of New South Wales, Australia, updated information on the shooting at the Jewish festival at Bondi Beach, Sydney, which occurred Sunday. He confirmed that 15 innocent civilians, ranging from 10 to 87 years old, have died in the incident.
Additionally, 42 people remain hospitalized with injuries. Authorities confirm there are two gunmen: a 50-year-old man who was fatally shot by police at the scene, and a 24-year-old man who is critically injured and under police protection in hospital.
Minns called for community unity, saying, "Let them know ordinary Australians stand with them and are thinking of them after this horrific attack targeting an event meant to be joyful and shared with the Bondi Beach community."
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated the attack was an "act of antisemitism" and "terrorism" on Australian soil, pledging that "we will dedicate all necessary resources to respond to this matter."
Mal Lanyon, New South Wales Police Commissioner, confirmed police are no longer searching for additional suspects. He revealed the two gunmen, aged 50 and 24, are father and son. The elder died at the scene; the younger remains critically ill in hospital.
Lanyon added that police executed search warrants at two suburban Sydney locations last night: Bonnyrigg and Campsie.
The 50-year-old held a firearms license and was linked to six firearms, which police believe were used in the Bondi Beach crime, the commissioner confirmed.
Finally, Lanyon said two New South Wales police officers are still hospitalized, and police will increase presence at various religious venues.
Dr. Dominic Morgan, CEO of NSW Ambulance, said at the same press conference that ambulance teams responded within 10 minutes of the Bondi Beach incident. The first responders transported 24 injured victims to hospitals and assisted with 14 fatalities at the scene.
Dr. Morgan added that two more victims died later in hospital, and a total of 42 remain hospitalized across New South Wales.
Regarding motives, Lanyon said police are investigating. So far, there is no evidence the two attackers planned the assault in advance. Additionally, two functional improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were found at the scene but have been safely defused by authorities.
