Rob Reiner, the famous Hollywood film director, was found dead alongside his wife at their home in Los Angeles, while their son was arrested on serious criminal charges.
Foreign news agencies reported on 15 Dec 2025 that Rob Reiner, the legendary Hollywood director and actor, and his wife Michelle were found dead at their Los Angeles home on Sunday (14 Dec 2025). Police stated that the incident appears to be a murder.
Los Angeles police revealed that around 3:38 p.m. local time on Sunday, the LA Fire Department was called to assist at a residence in the Brentwood neighborhood, an area known for many celebrity homes.
Initially, police found the bodies of a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman, who were pronounced dead at the scene. It was later confirmed that the deceased were Rob Reiner, the renowned film director, and his wife Michelle. Police are investigating the case as a homicide.
Alan Hamilton, Deputy Police Chief of Los Angeles, said the bodies remained in the house for more than six hours after police and firefighters arrived, without disclosing the reason for this delay.
Later, local U.S. media reported, citing records from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) inmate control center, that Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of Rob Reiner, was arrested and held on $4 million bail.
Records indicate that the 32-year-old man was detained on felony charges, arrested at 9:15 p.m. local time on Sunday, with the arrest recorded at 5:04 a.m. on Monday. Police later confirmed he was charged with murder.
Rob Reiner is known for directing iconic films such as When Harry Met Sally, This is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, Stand By Me, Misery, and A Few Good Men.
