
China is preparing to send a special envoy to visit Cambodia and Thailand again this Thursday to seek ways to reduce tensions and help both parties restore peace.
On the night of Wednesday, 17 Dec 2025 GMT+7, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the special envoy for Asian affairs will visit Cambodia and Thailand again this Thursday (18 Dec) to conduct shuttle diplomacy aimed at promoting tension reduction and helping both sides restore peace.
"As neighboring and friendly countries to Cambodia and Thailand, China is deeply concerned about the current border clashes between the two countries. China has continuously sought to mediate and promote negotiations, actively playing its role through its own methods to help ease tensions and alleviate the situation," the spokesperson said.
"The special envoy for Asian affairs will visit Cambodia and Thailand again on 18 December to mediate, encourage both sides to move closer together, and restore peace quickly," the statement said.
