Kim Jong Un Accompanies Daughter to Ribbon-Cutting for New Factory Two Days in a Row, Aiming to Accelerate Regional Development Plan

Kim Jong Un, North Korea's leader, participated in the opening ceremony of a factory in Sinpo city, marking the second consecutive factory inauguration. He appeared alongside his daughter Kim Ju-ae. State media underscored the policy to speed up regional development and narrow income gaps.

On 21 Dec 2025 GMT+7, the Korean Central News Agency reported that Kim Jong Un, North Korea's supreme leader, attended the opening ceremony of a second new factory in a row. He traveled to Sinpo, an eastern coastal city, on Friday for the event, following a ribbon-cutting at a factory in Jangyon district in the west of the country just the day before.

The North Korean leader appeared with his daughter Kim Ju-ae, widely regarded as his political heir, marking another public joint appearance after they visited another factory together on Monday.

Kim Jong Un stated that Sinpo city has reliable potential and strong momentum for self-reliant development. He reaffirmed the Korean Workers' Party's commitment to advancing a more ambitious regional development policy.

Additionally, the leader visited Sinpo's offshore aquaculture farm and received reports on fishery product processing, aiming to increase value-added production and foster local economic growth.

North Korea began promoting regional development policies last year, targeting a reduction in income inequality between major cities and other areas, and aiming to decentralize development more broadly at the local level.
