UK Arrests Ex-Husband and Five Others for Sexual Abuse of Former Wife Over 13 Years

UK police have arrested a man and five others on charges of drugging and sexually abusing the man's former wife over the past 13 years.

An international news agency reported on 22 Dec 2025 GMT+7 that Philip Young, formerly of Swindon but now residing in Enfield, along with five others, were arrested and charged with sexually abusing Young's ex-wife over a period of 13 years.

The 49-year-old Young faces a total of 56 sexual abuse charges, including rape and administering substances intended to incapacitate or render the victim unconscious to facilitate sexual acts. Additionally, he is charged with voyeurism, possession of child pornography, and possession of extreme violent pornography.

The other five suspects also face various charges related to the abuse of 48-year-old Joanne Young, who waived her right to anonymity to publicly disclose the abuse.

All six men are scheduled to appear at Swindon Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, 23 Dec.

UK police stated that Young is a white British man currently held pending legal proceedings. The other five suspects are:

Norman McSoney, 47, of Wood End Close, Charnbrook, identified as a Black British man, is charged with one count of rape and possession of violent pornography.

Dean Hamilton, 47, homeless and identified as a white British man, faces charges of one count of rape, one count of sexual assault by penetration, and two counts of indecent touching.

Connor Sanderson Doyle, 31, of Crofton Road, Swindon, a white British man, is charged with sexual assault by penetration and indecent touching.

Richard Wilkins, 61, of Tattersall, Swindon, a white British man, faces one count of rape and indecent touching.

Mohammed Hassan, 37, of Torun Way, Swindon, a British man of Asian descent, is charged with indecent touching.

Detective Superintendent Geoff Smith of Wiltshire Police described these charges as a significant breakthrough in a complex and wide-ranging case. He added that Ms. Young is currently under specialized care and receiving support from trained professionals.
