A shocking incident occurred when a car crashed into a bus stop in the northern part of Frankfurt, Germany, resulting in at least three injuries, one of whom is seriously injured.

The driver, a 32-year-old Azerbaijani man, was detained by authorities for questioning. The incident took place in the city of Giessen, about 53 kilometers north of Frankfurt, at approximately 16:30 local time.

The crash site is only a few hundred meters from the city's Christmas market, causing considerable alarm among local residents.


Police stated in a press release, "The exact cause of the incident is currently unknown and is under thorough investigation."

Preliminary information indicates that the driver, who lives in Giessen, struck two other vehicles traveling in the same direction before losing control and crashing into a group of people standing at the bus stop. After the crash, the driver continued to drive the Audi car briefly before stopping and being arrested by police.

No further details have been disclosed regarding the driver's motive or the condition of the injured. Authorities will provide updates as the investigation progresses.
