Cambodian Ministry of Interior Reports 21 Civilian Deaths and 83 Injuries from Fighting with Thailand

The Cambodian Ministry of Interior announced that civilian deaths from gunfire and airstrikes have increased to 21, with at least 83 injured, while more than 500,000 people have been forced to flee the fighting.

On 23 December 2025 GMT+7, the Cambodian Ministry of Interior issued a statement saying that artillery fire and airstrikes, which Cambodia claims were carried out by the Thai military, have resulted in 21 civilian deaths and at least 83 injuries in Cambodia.

The statement said one displaced civilian died in Oddar Meanchey province, and three more were injured in Banteay Meanchey province. Meanwhile, the number of people displaced from the conflict zone has risen to 544,703, including 285,544 women and 174,006 children. Cambodian authorities said the figure is expected to rise if the fighting expands further.

Cambodia stated that since 7 December, over 100 homes have been damaged, along with schools, health centers, temples and religious sites, as well as bridges and several civilian commercial buildings.

The Cambodian Ministry of Interior said in the statement that more than 500,000 Cambodians, including women and children, are suffering severely after being forced to abandon their homes and schools to escape gunfire, artillery, and air bombings by Thai F-16 fighter jets, which have destroyed houses and villages.
