Greta Thunberg Arrested in London During Pro-Palestine Rally

Greta Thunberg was arrested in London for showing support for a banned organization after she joined a rally backing Palestinian activists.

On Tuesday, 23 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Greta Thunberg, the well-known environmental activist, was arrested in London early that morning (local time) during a demonstration on Fenchurch Street supporting the activist group Palestine Action, whose members were on a hunger strike inside a UK prison.

A video released by the group "Prisoners for Palestine" shows 22-year-old Swedish activist Thunberg holding signs reading "I support the Palestine Action prisoners" and "I oppose genocide."

London police stated they were called to the scene around 07:00 GMT after reports of damage to a building involving a hammer and red paint.

Authorities said a 22-year-old woman (name withheld) was arrested for displaying signs supporting a banned organization, namely Palestine Action, violating Section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

Additionally, police reported that a man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage after they "glued themselves to nearby property." Specialists removed them before taking them into custody.

The protesters from Prisoners for Palestine said they held the demonstration outside the offices of Aspen Insurance, which they claimed provides services to Elbit Systems, an arms company linked to Israel.

Palestine Action was declared a "banned organization" under UK terrorism laws earlier this year, making any support or public endorsement of the group a criminal offense.

This protest followed several Palestine Action activists in custody being hospitalized recently, including one who had refused food for 52 days. Since the hunger strike began on 2 Nov, seven prisoners have been hospitalized.
