Cambodia's Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and Ministry of Information have issued a warning to the public to refrain from sharing or commenting on content from Thailand, stating it serves as a channel for spreading false news, undermining public morale, and impacting the country's sovereignty and information security.
On 23 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Cambodia's Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, together with the Ministry of Information, advised the public to stop sharing, commenting on, or responding to social media content originating from Thailand or from sources not yet verified, amid government concerns that such content affects Cambodia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The statement said that sharing, commenting on, or reacting to articles, images, videos, or digital content from Thai social media accounts unintentionally aids the rapid spread of rhetoric from the Thai side and fake news.
The warning stated that such behavior accelerates the circulation of false information, distortion, and incitement, which undermines public morale and risks overshadowing factual information disseminated through official channels of the Cambodian government, ministries, and media.
It also noted that unverified content is being used by artificial intelligence technology as reference and to expand dissemination, causing confusion and misunderstanding among international recipients, some of whom mistakenly regard it as factual reporting, while the Cambodian government views it as obscuring what it describes as Thailand's proactive actions against Cambodia's sovereignty.
