US Justice Department Reveals Discovery of Over One Million Additional Documents in Epstein Case

The US Department of Justice revealed the discovery of over one million documents potentially related to Jeffrey Epstein's case, necessitating 2-3 more days to review before public release.

On Wednesday, 24 Dec 2025 GMT+7, the US Department of Justice announced the discovery of more than one million additional documents possibly linked to the case of Jeffrey Epstein, the former financier convicted of sex crimes, noting that processing and public disclosure could require "an additional 2-3 weeks."

The department shared this information via a post on the X platform, stating that the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) and the FBI informed them of the new document discovery.

“The Department of Justice received these documents from SDNY and the FBI for review prior to disclosure, in compliance with transparency laws regarding the Epstein case as well as applicable legal requirements and court orders,” the post stated.

“We have a legal team working around the clock to review and redact content as required by law to protect victims, and we will release these documents as soon as possible.”

“Given the massive volume of documents, this process may take an additional 2-3 weeks. The Department will continue to comply fully with federal law and President Trump's orders to disclose these files.”

The Department of Justice's announcement on Wednesday comes as the government gradually releases documents related to Epstein's case under a new transparency law recently passed by Congress last month.

The original deadline for complete document disclosure was Friday (19 Dec), when the department posted a large batch of documents, followed by further releases in the early hours of Saturday and a significant set on Tuesday, which notably referenced President Donald Trump in several intriguing instances.

The delays have prompted criticism from bipartisan members of Congress and an increasing number of Epstein abuse survivors, some questioning what they see as excessive, directionless redactions that appear to protect Epstein's close associates from scrutiny.

Conversely, some have expressed dissatisfaction over insufficient redactions, resulting in victims' private information being exposed.
