Donald Trump revealed that he watched the live operation to arrest Venezuela's leader from a room in his Mar-a-Lago resort together with military generals, saying it felt like watching a television show.
On Saturday, 3 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Donald Trump, President of the United States, gave an interview about the U.S. military operation in Venezuela, where Nicolás Maduro, the Venezuelan president, and his wife were arrested and are being brought to the U.S. to face multiple charges.
At one point, Trump disclosed that he watched the complex operation to capture Maduro live in real time from a room in the Mar-a-Lago resort alongside several army generals.
“Real military personnel told me that no other country in the world can conduct an operation like this,” Trump said in a phone interview with Fox News. “If you saw what happened—I mean, I really watched it—it was like watching a television program.”
“If you saw the speed and violence, you know—they call it 'speed and violence.' It was incredible. What these people did was amazing. No one else could do something like this,” Trump added.
Trump also said he watched the U.S. military arrest Maduro, including breaking through a steel door during the raid. “We watched from a room; we had a command center, and we observed every aspect of the operation. We were surrounded by many people, including generals, and they knew everything happening. It was very complex, extremely complex.”
“They just stormed in, into a place no one should have been able to enter, broke through a steel door built specifically to prevent this kind of event, and Maduro and his wife were detained within seconds. I've never seen anything like it before,” Trump continued.
