"Hun Sen" posted on Facebook celebrating 50 years of marriage with his wife, "Dr. Bun Rany Hun Sen," recalling that they could not hold a traditional wedding ceremony because the Cambodian people were suffering from the Khmer Rouge genocide era.
On 5 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Hun Sen, Chairman of the Cambodian Senate and former Prime Minister, posted on his personal Facebook page marking 50 years of marriage to Bun Rany Hun Sen. He stated that their wedding did not follow Cambodian traditional customs and they could not have children at that time because the country was enduring a great tragedy from the Khmer Rouge genocide under Pol Pot's regime.
Hun Sen said that his and his wife's married life during the Khmer Rouge era was not rosy but filled with hardship and a struggle for survival. They faced many obstacles but never abandoned each other and together endured Cambodia's brutal historical crisis.The former Cambodian prime minister also wished for his family to experience only happiness and success in leading Cambodia toward enduring prosperity.
