Australian police have issued a major warning after discovering a widespread outbreak of high-quality counterfeit banknotes across multiple areas in the state, causing significant losses to many business operators, especially retail stores unknowingly targeted as victims.
This batch of counterfeit banknotes is reported to be so closely imitated that it is almost impossible to distinguish them, matching in color, texture, and security patterns, causing many merchants and the public to accept them unknowingly, resulting in ongoing financial losses.
Queensland police revealed that counterfeit money rings often target convenience stores, restaurants, and small businesses lacking advanced verification equipment. They emphasized the importance of the public checking every banknote, especially the hologram and special surfaces that genuine notes must have.
Authorities request cooperation: if any suspicious banknotes are found, do not pass them on under any circumstances and report to the police immediately to help stop the rapidly spreading counterfeit currency.
