
The Consul General of Sydney led a team from the Election Commission to inspect the first day of mobile voting units, finding no irregularities. The atmosphere was lively with a large number of voters coming to cast their ballots.
On 23 Jan 2026 GMT+7, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Sydney opened its mobile voting unit at Metro Hotel Marlow Sydney, located in the heart of Thai Town, for the first day. The atmosphere was vibrant from early morning as voters steadily arrived, reflecting the enthusiasm of Thai people in Australia toward the parliamentary election and the referendum conducted outside the Kingdom.
The mobile voting unit opening was led by Mr. Naruchai Ninnart, Consul General in Sydney, who accompanied Mr. Anan Suwannarat, member of the Election Commission, and his team, along with Mr. Bancha Yunyongjongjaroen, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They visited the site to closely monitor operations and held meetings to gather feedback and discuss ways to improve the management of overseas elections to be more efficient, transparent, and aligned with current realities.
Officials reported that the first day of polling proceeded smoothly at every step, with no unusual incidents occurring, and the unit was able to accommodate voters continuously throughout the day.
Additionally, on 24 Jan 2026 GMT+7 from 14:00 to 16:00, Mr. Anan Suwannarat, Election Commission member, and his team are scheduled to hold a discussion and exchange views on voting and the referendum with the Thai community to address questions, clarify doubts, and provide information at the Grand Australian Centre Function Room, 38 College St, Darlinghurst NSW 2010. Dr. Marko Maliwong, a senior executive at the Australian Centre, will officially welcome the event.
On this occasion, Mr. Naruchai Ninnart, Consul General in Sydney, reminded those registered for voting and the referendum that there is still time to exercise their rights until 26 Jan. He encouraged all eligible voters to come out and vote collectively to demonstrate the strength of the Thai community abroad and participate in shaping the country's future.
The mobile voting unit at Metro Hotel Marlow Sydney will be open for eligible voters for four days, from 23 to 26 Jan 2026 GMT+7, between 09:00 and 17:00.
