Trump Issues Stern Warning: Iran’s Time Is Running Out as U.S. Deploys Large Naval Force to Persian Gulf to Pressure Nuclear Talks

Trump warned Iran that its “time is running out” if it does not return to nuclear talks, announcing the U.S. is deploying a large naval force in the Persian Gulf. Iran responded by saying it is ready to negotiate but will not accept pressure and will retaliate if attacked.

On 28 January 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a strong warning to Iran that “the time for negotiations with Iran is running out,” as the U.S. continues to bolster its military presence in the Persian Gulf amid tensions over Iran’s nuclear program.

Trump posted on Truth Social urging Iran to return quickly to the negotiating table to reach a fair agreement, warning that any further military attack would be more severe than before. He also stated that a large U.S. naval force is moving swiftly with power, determination, and clear objectives toward the Middle East region, emphasizing that the forces are ready and capable of immediate action if rapid and forceful response is required.

Iran’s delegation to the United Nations issued a statement responding that Iran is ready to negotiate based on respect and mutual benefit, but if pressured or threatened, it will defend itself and retaliate in unprecedented ways. The statement reaffirmed that Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful and rejected U.S. and allied accusations that Iran is developing nuclear weapons.
